URC: Filed judgment for season 2025-26

The concept of judgment day began in 2013, with over 68,000 appearing at the Principality Stadium in 2016, but the popularity of the event has decreased in recent years.

The 10th edition of the event in its current disguise was staged at the Principality Stadium in April and attracted a crowd of 28,328.

This was the lowest participation of the nine occasions of the Principality Stadium, although the crowd figure was 8,000 less when the event was exchanged for Cardiff City Stadium in 2024.

Osrepreys coach Mark Jones and Scarlets, Captain Josh MacLeod, says he expected the event to have a future if the crowds could be persuaded back.

“We will rethink the product we are offering and bringing back an event to show the Welsh professional rugby in the future,” said a PRB -party door.

“The concept has enormous potential and its first incarnations have been proven success, but we think it’s time to re-immaging it.

“Instead, this season will see the Welsh rugby focus on attracting maximum crowds to the respective Derby days and other showcases in our places at home.”

On the other hand, more than 50,000 participated in the Bath versus Bristol League game for a historic English league game, staged at the Welsh Rugby House in May.

Bath and Bristol will return to the Principality Stadium next season for what they charge as the ‘big day’.
