The teenager Cat Ferguson secured the victory in stage three to bring the green shirt of the general leader in the tour of Britain’s women.
The 19 -year -old British, riding Movistar, launched her remaining 150m attack and pushed compatriot Josie Nelson and New Zealand ally Wollaston on the line.
Ferguson moved to the overall leadership because of the time bonus attributed to win the stage with Wollaston of the FDJ-SUEZ three seconds ago.
Denmark’s Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, from Canyon Sram-Zondacrypto, launched the initial attack on the final climb at 25 km, with Ferguson and Nelson from Team Picnic-Postnl for company.
Karlijn Swinkels and Eleonora Gasparrini from the United Arab Emirates team ADQ and Wollaston filled the gap before Ludwig dropped with a mechanical problem to make a group of five fugitives.
Ferguson then made her move in the final stages to claim a victory on the Tour First Tour stage.
“I’m with the moon. This was one of the races I was most excited about making this season, and I really wanted to come here in good shape and show Britain how I can be good. I think I tasted it today,” she said.
“It’s very emotional. It’s so lovely to have my family here, and it’s really a team victory, the team really supported me and I feel so lucky for having them.
“We worked well together and I knew that if I positioned myself well in that final corner, I could probably win Sprint.”
The fourth and final stage occurs in Glasgow on Sunday.
