Tottenham: Ange Poscoglou Sack shows glory is not what matters to Daniel Levy

And that’s why there was a strong argument for the postcoglou to maintain their job, with the confirmation of their resignation recognizing that it had established “a great platform to build”.

Of course, Poscoglou had flaws, as his stubborn refusal to change his high -risk strategy, even when it was being exposed in his first season, but the Europa League showed that he could do it differently, especially when a list of disabling injuries decreased.

Many Spurs fans will think it is right to say goodbye, but others will believe that their success earned him the right to a third season, an opportunity to take advantage of the emotional scenes witnessed in Bilbao, then on the streets around Tottenham at the Ball of Europe League.

The placement of the Premier League will be ‘attached to’ in the case against the postcoglou, but it is a reflection of the cold state of the game today, by ensuring the first cutlery of a club in 17 years, sees you out of a job.

Comparisons will be made with Manchester United’s bad decision to keep Erik Ten Hag last summer after winning Fa Cup, just to fire it in October, but also won cutlery with their predecessors Jose Mourinho and Louis Van Gaal.

Spurs, on the other hand, were hungry for trophies until posted it changed it all. They had no recent history of winning until the Australian arrived after a brilliant period at Celtic.

Poscoglou reached something that was beyond those who were before him, illustrious names such as Mauricio Pochettino, Mourinho and Antonio Conte, providing the glory that they considered their trademark.

The former -engaging of England and BBC expert Alan Shearer left his clear feelings in X when he posted, “What a stupid football it is!”

And former Celtic striker Chris Sutton told BBC Sport: “Would I love to know the thought process behind the decision to get rid of it. Are you saying that the Premier League financing is everything and the end?

“It’s as if they are turning into Arsenal under Arsena Wenger at the end if that’s what is important.

“But the money with glory summarizes the owner, Daniel Levy, isn’t it?

“Nothing more surprises me in football, so the poskoglou is better that – and maybe they can be mediocre and old Tottenham again now.”

Sutton added, “To get someone who comes to them cutlery, then get rid of him, who sums up modern football, aren’t they? They are absolutely photographers.”

It was Levy who took the microphone at the postpartum party in Bilbao and shouted: “We are champions.

“This has been a long time ago – 1984 was the last time we won a European Cup. Tonight was history and I want to thank Ange and the entire technical team, all the players. You fell into the story.

“This is a magnificent achievement for the club and, hopefully, takes us on the road we deserve to be – which is at the top.”

If they reach, or get close to this target, it will continue to be seen, but will be done without the postcoglou, which clearly wanted to continue in charge.

Levy was warming up in glory, posted it, but that did not prevent him from making a decision that he insisted that could not be shaped by emotion.

The pressure and scrutiny will now return to Levy, who followed his long history of loot managers who did not win trophies by dismissing the one who did so.

PoscoGlou brought glory – just to learn the hard lesson that is not enough for Daniel Levy.
