Open French 2025: Coco Gauff beats Aryna Sabalenka to win the first title of Roland Garros

Coco Gauff won the first French title of open singles of his career by fighting to beat the number one world Aryna Sabalenka in a roller coaster played in test conditions.

The American Second Seed Gauff won a 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-4 win after a tense battle between the two main players of the WTA Tour.

It is the second Grand Slam victory of his 21 -year career, adding to the US Open title that she won in 2023, also defeating Belarus Sabalenka.

Gauff recovered from a difficult start, where she followed a double break, eventually finding her pace and benefiting from a large number of 27 -year -old Sabalenka errors.

A rigid breeze caused damage with withdrawal on both opening sets, leading the pair to exchange 12 intervals in a fun case if not of high quality.

Gauff, who lost in the end of 2022, settled faster in the third decision set to move a break and maintained the courage to fulfill the victory.

She had to survive another point of interruption before beating her second starting point, falling into the clay on her back when Sabalenka pushed a wide forehand.

With her parents Candi and Corey dancing euphorically in the stands, Gauff shared a affectionate hug with Sabalenka before fleeing the court to celebrate with her family.
