Current champion Carlos Alcaraz moved to his second successive French final after Lorenzo Musetti retired injured in his semifinal’s fourth set.
The second Spanish seed Alcaraz led 4-6 7-6 (7-3) by 6-0 2-0 when Musetti of Italy, with the aim of reaching its first large final, was forced to finish the match earlier.
The eighth musetti seed had treatment for a thigh problem at the end of the third set.
“It’s never fair. I want to win, but not like that,” said Alcaraz.
The two were the main players of the clay court on the ATP tour this year and showed why in two competitive sets.
But once he was level, Alcaraz, 22, triggered his attacker shots to devastating effects to take control of the match.
The four -time Grand Slam Champion Alcaraz, who first beat Roland Garros last year, will face Novak Djokovic or Jannik Sinner in Sunday’s end.
