Crystal Palace in negotiations with Jean-Philippe Mateta about new contract


Crystal Palace is in negotiations with striker Jean-Philippe Mateta about signing a new contract.

A complete agreement is yet to be reached, but it is understood that an agreement is close.

The 27-year-old was a prominent artist on Oliver Glasner’s team last season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions, while Palace won FA Cup-Seu First Great Trophy.

The Frenchman, who joined the Mainz initially loaned in 2021, is linked to a remoteness of Selhurst Park, with Aston Villa, Manchester United and Marseille among the clubs credited with an interest.

His current agreement ends in 2027, after the Eagles triggered a 12 -month length of their contract.

However, the palace is reluctant to allow matette to enter the last year of its agreement and want to secure its future in the long run.

BBC Sport previously reported Glasner’s team could have to wait until the end of the month to find out if they can play in the 2025-26 Europa League, which can play a factor in the decision of math.

UEFA rules prohibit individuals to control more than one club in the same competition to avoid conflicts of interest.

The Eagle Football – the John Texor multi -club group, which includes a minority participation in Palace – has a majority participation in Ligue 1 Side Lyon, which also qualified for next season’s competition.
