Currently, Gordon, Kelly and Clark, it’s not just that Robby McCrorie fell into warming. All the probability, he would have happened against Iceland.
With Gunn and McCrorie probably outside the Monday friendly against Liechtenstein, and Slicker’s confidence on the floor, Clarke will turn to someone else?
“You also need to find out what’s in the player’s mind, how he is feeling about it,” said Scotland Willie Miller’s former scicker.
“What you are looking for is his honesty. He feels he can face the challenge in the next game, or that he doesn’t want to?
“Will the manager want to take it out of the shooting line?”
McKenna, 18, has more senior experience than much more, but not much. He played nine games for Queen’s Park in the Scottish Championship before signing Bournemouth in 2024.
He has been in their development team ever since and has been in the Scotland group as a training player last week.
Given the lack of options, Clarke’s first call can be for Jon McLaughlin.
The two -time Scotland, 37, played only a FA Cup game for Swansea City last season and is now out of contract. But he was regular squad, he is experienced and would probably be considered one of the safest options.
Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken was in Scotland squads during the season over, but was replaced among Dens Park by Trevor Carson in the middle of the period.
Other Scotland options would be Scott Bain – recently released by Celtic – or Ross Doohan – recently signed by Celtic.
MK Dons Goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray had also been called by Clarke, but seems to be far below the hierarchy these days.
