Open French 2025: Carlos Alcaraz puts the heart of ‘defeating Jannik Sinner in the classic return of Roland Garros

Sinner was looking for a third successive Grand Slam triumph, having won the US Open late last year and then defended his Australian Open Title in January.

The level of the 23 -year -old player in the last fortnight – he arrived in the final, not leaving a set – was even more impressive, considering that he is still in the early stages of his return.

Sinner fulfilled a three -month ban from February to May for failing two doping tests last year and only played a tournament before Roland Garros.

“My level has improved since Rome. As I said before the match, my main goal was to see where it is,” he said.

“Just doing [the] End is difficult to accept now, but that’s the much of the sport. Today I also had the sad part.

“But if you just watch the sad part, you’ll never come back.

“I believe I have improved as a player since last year. We tried to keep pressing.”

Sinner lost in a large final for the first time, having won all three of his previous games.
